New Openings, New Reasons To Go To California’s Sonoma County This Summer

With California’s projected reopening scheduled for June 15th, this varied wine country region north of San Francisco will again be a focus for road trips in the summer.  There was already a bounty of offerings ranging from markets displaying the produce in this prodigious agricultural region to sophisticated inns and restaurants surrounded by vineyards. But with recent openings and more slated to emerge by summer, the options have expanded, in sync with the tag line they’re using “life opens up.”

Given the richness of Sonoma’s agricultural harvests, new restaurants utilizing the best seasonal products are constantly popping up around the county. Among the latest crop: Folktable, which opened in December in the marketplace Cornerstone Sonoma in the town of the same name, is Top Chef finalist Casey Thompson’s casual café devoted to seasonality with dishes such as spicy yellowfin poke with sweet onion, chili flake, kizami nori, ancient grains, avocado, radish sprouts and kewpie.
